Our address is: Carreterra Montelimar Km 49, 15 Km al Oeste.
By car, it is approximately a 1.5-hr drive from Managua.
DRIVING
From Managua, take Carretera Sur, then Carretera Vieja a Leon (this is the southern road between Managua and Leon). At Km 31, turn left following the signs to Montelimar. At Km 49 turn right on a dirt road (signs to Finca Del Mar, Gran Pacifica). Follow the signs to Los Cardones (15 Km).
From Granada, the best road is through Masaya, then Managua. In Managua take a left turn at the second round-about (Rotonda Centro America). Drive several miles and straight through the next roundabout (uphill). Continue several miles until the end of the road. At the end of the road take a left turn (going uphill) on Carretera Sur, then follow the directions from Managua.
From Rivas, drive North on the Panamerican Highway. At El Crucero turn left towards Montelimar, drive downhill past San Rafael Del Sur then turn right towards Managua/Santa Rita. At Km 49 turn left on a dirt road (signs to Finca Del Mar, Gran Pacifica). Follow the signs to Los Cardones (15 Km).

FROM THE AIRPORT
If you need help leaving Managua from the Airport, look for a Between The Waves magazine at the Tourism desk of the airport. Take a left on Carreterra Norte as you exit the airport, stay on Carreterra Norte for several miles until you see an 8-feet tall metal sclupture of a worker with a machine gun (past Palacio de La cultura). Make a left. At the first roundabout (Rotonda Plaza Inter) take a right. Go straight through a traffic light and continue until the end of the road (the next major intersection). Turn left and stay on this road as it takes you out of Managua on Carreterra Sur. Keep going straight at the Nejapa traffic light, you are now on Carretera Vieja Leon.
A 4WD vehicle may be necessary in September.
BY BUS FROM MANAGUA
At Mercado Israel in Managua, take the bus to San Cayetano. Buses run daily from 4:00 am to 9:00 pm, every 45 minutes during the week and every 1 hour on the weekends. Stop at California. From California you may hike or try to hitch a ride 15 km to the beach following the signs.
(1) Waiter/Customer Service
Position available every month.
Duration one month
Requirements: Experience as a waiter and surf instructor. Good conversational Spanish and English.
Job Description: Greet guests and attend to their needs. Wait tables and serve drinks. Surf lessons and ding repair. 7 days a week.
Compensation: Room and board at Los Cardones Surf Lodge (accommodations are rustic, food and surf are excellent) $100 a month plus tips and surf lesson profit share.
(2) Surf Lodge Managers **July 2011**
Requirements:
- Front of house manager: Experience in the service industry. Experience in management. Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Back of house manager: Experience running a kitchen. Fluent in Spanish. Excellent organizational skills.
Job Description: As a team the managers run the lodge and care for 100% satisfaction of guests.
Compensation: Room and board at Los Cardones Surf Lodge and profit share.
Experienced Teacher
We host a work exchange program for experienced teachers. If you speak Spanish and are not afraid of riding a bike, Los Cardones Surf Lodge will provide rooom and board in exchange for teaching in the local schools. Bring your own teaching program!
